President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged Asamoah Gyan to consider rescinding his decision to retire from the senior national football team, the Black Stars.

In a telephone conversation with Asamoah Gyan on Tuesday, President Akufo-Addo reportedly urged him to rescind the decision to retire and make himself available for selection by Coach Kwasi Appiah.

Gyan on Monday May 20th announced the decision to recuse himself from the upcoming 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament and also retire from the national team over fears he may lose the captaincy.

The development, according reports followed a communication by Coach Appiah to Gyan that he wants to make him the general captain of the team.
