A middle aged woman has accused the medical team at the Tema General Hospital of medical negligence that resulted in the death of her 10 year old boy.
The boy passed away after he was administered with a 75 milligram Naklofen drug.
Speaking to Accra based Joy FM, the mother of the deceased stated that, the doctor had asked for a 50mg of the drug to be given to her son, but the pharmacist changed the drug.
She informed the doctor about what had happened, but the doctor asked her to go ahead and give the drug to her son.
The boy, however, began complaining of heart burns and stomach pains after taking the medicine.
According to the mother of the deceased, the boy was sweaty at a point and was subsequently rushed to the hospital but the doctors and nurses failed to attend to him.
The woman stated that her son passed away at 4.00 am September 13.
Management of the Tema General Hospital is currently at a crunch meeting over the incident.
