Four Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the northern region have been involved in a near fatal road accident on the Tamale – Accra highway on Monday morning.
The Gushegu Municipal Chief Executive, Bimbila Municipal Chief, Mion District Chief Executive and Zabzugu District were in one vehicle in a convoy traveling to Wa in the Upper West region on a government assignment to join President Nana Akufo Addo launch the Rearing for Food and Jobs flagship programme.
The incident is reported to have occurred at Datoyili just on the outskirts of the Tamale Metropolis right after the Police Checkpoint.
News about how the accident occurred still remain sketchy but sources reveal that the vehicle in which all the four appointees were traveling on reportedly somersaulted leaving occupants with varying degrees of the injuries.
The Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Salifu Sa-eed who confirmed the unfortunate incident on Bolgatanga-based A-1 radio monitored by MyNewsGh.com indicated that, a saloon car traveling from Accra to the northern region veered off the road and collided head on with the vehicle of MMDCEs.
